The many talents of Dave Neyle and Inga Lidums become apparent as you head up the winding driveway to the Lobethal Road vineyard and cellar door.
New vines are being established and older vines are thriving in this cool, crisp climate at the base of Mount Torrens in the Adelaide Hills. A mudbrick building stands out among the vines, complimenting this setting with it’s rustic features. The building was designed and hand built by Dave and Inga to incorporate their house as well as the Lobethal Road cellar door. There is a cosy dining area with a wood fire and also an outdoor courtyard, where you can relax and enjoy the weekend lunch menu and award winning wines.
Lobethal Road takes on a transformation when Adelaide Hills wine events roll into town, and this year’s Crush Festival was a roaring success for the Winery.
On Sunday 30th May Lobethal Road will host an event of their own, with the release of their 2009 Bacchant Chardonnay. This top shelf Chardonnay is a great reason to throw a party and previous vintages have sold out quickly. Lobethal Road will be bringing in some local talent to help celebrate the release.
Adelaide Chef Ali Seedsman, formerly Executive Chef of Magill Estate and the Universal Wine Bar will be igniting the kitchen for the event, with French gruyere and caramelised onion tart, orreciette pasta with duck, and slow roasted pork belly on the menu.
Blues and roots duo Halfway to Forth, featuring Dan and Kyle Lizotte will be providing the entertainment for the day. The duo come fresh from the Byron Bay Blues Festival and have recently set themselves up to stretch their musical legs in Adelaide.
Dave and Inga will be on hand in the tasting area to serve up the Bacchant Chardonnay, but make sure you taste the rest of their fantastic wines. After all, you deserve it.
