The town of Lobethal will host an important exhibition this weekend, featuring latest industry-leading bushfire fighting and protection technologies.

The Bushfire Expo will bring together major South Australian fire safety industry innovators on December 12 and 13 at Lobethal Oval, to present a one-stop overview of information, systems and equipment considered “essential viewing” for all Adelaide Hills residents.

“In preparing our own homes and businesses for the coming season, we noticed just how many great new firefighting options there are around.  Bushfire preparedness is so essential.  We wanted to do something to help people get the best benefit out of all these innovations”, said co-organiser and local business operator Chris March of Lobethal.

Mr March operates a fire safety business and has teamed up to produce the Expo with fellow local businessman Adam Weinert, who became a founder of the important Lobethal Bushfire Recovery support initiatives after he lost his family home to 2019’s tragic Cudlee Creek blaze.

The pair say that the key to best practices for future safe fire management is to be prepared, to be educated, and to leverage new developments in ways to suit individual property and occupant needs.

“Our exhibition was conceived as a fast, effective and convenient way for residents to see all the latest in bushfire management in one place at one time, so they can ask questions, compare, and figure out what’s best for them.

We’re aiming to eliminate the overwhelm by bringing residents and experts together to help people see and understand these products, many of which are world class innovations developed right here in SA”.

The expo will present a wide range of leading fire technologies, including a first-time look at Embarr, an innovative new technology developed in Adelaide to consistently monitor properties for bushfire and independently control sprinkler systems, even when un-attended.

“As we head into summer, it’s inspiring to see that the local bushfire industry is producing such amazing world class innovations, including Embarr”, said Mr March.  “With this product on show, along with the best products from other businesses including Aerotech and Adelaide Hills Fire Watch, there’s plenty to see.

There’s really no time like the present to have a really thorough look around, talk to the experts, and make sure you’re as bushfire ready as possible before the weather heats up.”

The 2020 Bushfire Expo will be held at Lobethal Oval on December 12 and 13, 10am – 4pm.

Industry-leading fire safety businesses will present expert safety talks and equipment demonstrations with a focus on best practice disaster response preparation.

Entry is by gold coin donation, with proceeds supporting the work of local CFS crews.
