LOC Bottle Bar evolves to offer daytime coffee and pastry menu

The CBD bar, typically favoured for its epic selection of ethical wine and bar snacks, is now offering a selection of local coffee roasters and delicious pastries.

You’ll be able to enjoy more than just ethical wine and delicious snacks at LOC Bottle Bar, as Adelaide’s favourite natural wine bar will offer coffee, pastries, and house-made toasties.

From Monday 23 August, LOC will sling coffee and pastries in the morning and early afternoon before the shady little sanctuary on Hindmarsh Square rolls into bar service

For the all-day LOC experience, owner Olivia Moore is teaming up with local coffee star – and soon-to-be head barista – Bonnie Millar (formerly of Monday’s and Sibling) to continue the wine bar’s ethos of good food and drink from good people with the coffee shop offerings.

This means LOC’s coffee selection will feature a rotating line-up of local roasters that buy ethically, suitably, and transparently, kicking off with Coffee in Common.

“We’ll be rotating through a few smaller suppliers, all based in Australia, and who adopt an ethical approach that largely focuses on sustainability and fair pay, so the flavour profiles of our coffee beans will be changing regularly,” Olivia says.

“I want to give our customers something that I love drinking and working with,” Bonnie says. “Coffee in Common hits the nail on the head and, honestly, they’re kind people that believe in their product. A big reason I love these guys is their commitment to a more comfortable and inclusive community in coffee.”

Opening at the end of November 2020, LOC has become one of Adelaide’s favourite destinations with its relaxed, inclusive vibe where people can enjoy low-intervention wine hand-selected by Oliva from all over the globe.

LOC’s all-day experience follows the natural wine bar’s breakfast and brunch series, Toast, which saw LOC collaborate with leading Adelaide chefs, including Emma McCaskill, Lauren Southwell (Africola) and Jenny Kim (Golden Boy).

The coffee and wine bar will serve coffee and pastries from 7am to 3pm during the week before rolling into the afternoon’s wine bar service.

“Come summer it’s going to be a beautiful space to sit outside and have a coffee, glass of wine, snack, or whatever you feel like at lunch time,” Olivia says. “So it will be the customers who will dictate what the space is for them.”

“LOC will serve as a different venue at different times of the day,” Olivia continues. “I want it to feel exactly as it always has: a super relaxed place where you can grab a drink and a snack during a busy working day. This just has the added convenience of being able to pick up a bottle of wine or two on your lunch break if you want to while you’re there.”

Bonnie comes to LOC with years of barista experience at local favourites, including Exchange, Sibling, My Grandma Ben, and Bottega Bandito to work the La Marzocco Linea PB.

She wants to educate consumers to appreciate what they’re drinking, and navigate through the complicated world of coffee farming, growing, processing, sourcing, buying, roasting, brewing and, even, drinking.

“A big thing for me is creating a comfortable space for everyone to learn and enjoy coffee. I want people to engage with me, ask about what they’re drinking, where it comes from, and why I think they’ll enjoy it,” Bonnie says.

“Bonnie’s super knowledgeable and skilled, and I think it’s important to have that,” Olivia says. “We might only be small, and cover small volumes, but I want customers to leave having a great drink/great experience and know what they’re consuming.”
