Calling all Adelaide artists! Now is your time to shine with this exciting opportunity to create a mural at the Adelaide Central Markets.

Unleash your creativity on the wall of the prominent Grote Street entrance and capture the vibrant essence and life of the Central Markets in your artistic creation. This rare opportunity is the perfect chance for individuals to encapsulate the hustle and bustle of the diverse market community, bringing to life the fun, joy and colour of Adelaide’s favourite foodie destination.

The Central Market asks those keen to splash their artistic talent across the Western Wall to create a ‘must see’ mural that attracts tourists and locals alike.

Similar to other Adelaide-favourite murals, it should be the perfect place to snap the latest Instagram pic, becoming instantly recognisable when scrolling through social media feeds.

For those wanting to flex their creative skills, artists are encouraged to create murals with 3D features, enticing visitors to interact with the artwork and immerse themselves further into the market experience.

The location has both street and Market presence and will be visible from the newly redeveloped Her Majesty’s Theatre.

The budget will be set at $10,000, covering all costs associated with the concept and design development, execution and delivery. The finer details of the brief state that the mural cannot consist of any explicit content, must be contemporary, high-quality and engaging to Adelaide’s diverse population.

Creatives applying must have a South Australian connection, with the mural a potential opportunity for emerging artists to collaborate and be mentored by established artists. The mural will join many others featured in the market, like recent work by Indigenous artist Shane Cook, whose Gouger Street mural reflects the Market’s core values of inclusivity, community and multiculturalism.

Expressions of interest close on September 3, with budding artists needing to submit an art concept and statement, their CV, imagery of previous work, proposed budget and a letter of reference.
