A group of local boys have opened up their very own café on Findon Road, serving up good food, good coffee and great vibes.
The space – which was once home to Burek Lounge, and after that Barbeque Brotherz – has been taken over by Local Boy owners Barn Fellegvari, Stephen Tzanakis and Raj Johal, with the goal to bring a relaxed café with delicious dishes to Findon Road.
“We wanted to do a café in the suburbs that strongly focuses on simple café food done well,” Barn said.
“We have hip hop music and a laidback atmosphere with food that reflects that.”
The café fits up to 65 people with 30 in the front and a gorgeous dog friendly beer garden out the back to fit 35. The boys have done up the corner store space into a welcoming suburban café with a massive mural out the front and blue interior.
Steven currently owns the local favourite Burgertec chain of stores while Barn was involved with this in the past too. Barn said the motivation to open a café of their own was fuelled by a crave to change up the pace.
“I wanted to do something different to where I’ve worked in the past,” Barn said. As the chef at Local Boy, Barn cooks up delicious breaky and lunch dishes with a focus on using local ingredients.
Customers can look forward to a massive bagel menu with varieties including cheeseburger bagels and mac and cheese bagels. There’s also brunch and lunch options from breakfast baos with scrambled egg and sausage, and french toast croissant with cheesecake whip, right through to truffle and pork ravioli, and crusted barramundi.
Along with the yummy meals, Local Boy serve delicious coffee as well as freshly squeezed juice using locally sourced fruit and veg.
Barn said the boys have big plans in the future once they settle into the space more.
“We want to eventually roll this into a wine bar moving into night times and doing more food and alcohol orientated days in the beer garden,” he said.
“We have a simple focus on good food, good coffee and great vibes with a laid-back dining experience.”
Local Boy is located at 1/65 Findon Road, Woodville South.
They are open Wednesday to Sunday from 6:30am-2:00pm.
