Adelaide’s Torrens Transit has successfully raised a huge $3,241 during this year’s Loud Shirt Day. The annual event is designed to support deaf and hard-of-hearing children through Can:Do 4Kids, a charity that offers early intervention and support services to children facing a variety of sensory and developmental challenges.
The money raised by Torrens Transit was the result of concerted efforts by team members across the various South Australian depots of the company. Staff embraced the spirit of Loud Shirt Day by wearing bright and eye-catching shirts and also hosted a series of fundraising activities. While a chance to raise money, the day was also an opportunity to raise awareness about the challenges faced by deaf and hard-of-hearing children, promoting greater understanding and support within the community.

Andrew Jenkinson, Managing Director of Torrens Transit, shared, “This is a fantastic achievement and reflects the generosity, enthusiasm, and commitment of our people to supporting such an important cause.
“I would like to extend my sincere thanks to everyone who championed the fundraising activities across our depots. Their leadership, coordination, and encouragement played a key role in making this initiative such a success.”
The funds raised during this event will directly support various programs designed to aid children who are deaf or hard of hearing. These programs are crucial, providing access to necessary early intervention services and hearing technology that might otherwise be out of reach for some families.

Beyond its success in fundraising, the event also aligns with Kelsian Group’s broader commitment to community support and social responsibility. The group, a leading global operator of transportation services, has a long history of engaging with and giving back to the communities where it operates.
Kelsian operates in various international locations, including Australia, Singapore, the USA, the UK, and the Channel Islands, employing over 12,800 staff and managing a fleet that includes over 5,870 buses, 124 vessels, and 24 light rail vehicles. They are known not just for their success in operations but also for their focus on sustainable and responsible practices.
Torrens Transit, as part of the Kelsian Group, continues to demonstrate this commitment locally, impacting positively on the South Australian community not only through transport solutions but through important social initiatives such as Loud Shirt Day.
