Karen Walker from TVs Will & Grace famously called flowers “poor people’s jewelry”, but I doubt she’d even dream at scoffing at one of Blissful Blooms’ immaculate chocolate bouquets. Would anyone? This is edible art at its finest.
Sisters Caitlin and Natalie have had Blissful Blooms dreamed up for the last 3 years, but the company only opened to the public this year in late January.
“I don’t know many people who don’t love chocolate!” says Natalie, and it’s that very reason that’s made Blissful Blooms such a hit with Adelaide chocolate-lovers, making the chocolate bouquets the perfect gifts for birthdays, Valentine’s Day, graduations, anniversaries or even that special I-don’t-need-a-reason gift.
Chocolate aside, it was always a love of flowers and flower arrangements that inspired Caitlin to take Blissful Blooms in a new direction, from decorative to melt-in-your-mouth.
“I’ve always loved the art of arranging flowers, be it fresh or artificial. By using chocolate, our aim is to provide our customers a stunning flower-like arrangement that lasts… until you eat it of course!” says Caitlin.
“From a young age, I’ve always believed that flowers and chocolates are an unbeatable combination,” Caitlin adds.
“Our aim is to revamp this classic and define the term.”
But puns aside, what could be the best thing about owning your own business where you work with edible floral arrangements?
“By far, it’s loving what I do!” says Caitlin.
“Very few of us get the chance to follow our bliss when it comes to our careers. Taking inspiration from everyday life and different experiences and putting it into your work is extremely satisfying.”
“The reaction on a customer’s face when receiving one of our arrangements is truly rewarding too,” says Natalie.
And for anyone who’s seen one of Blissful Blooms handcrafted bouquets, you’ll know what the fuss is about. Inspired by their love of Ferrero Rocher chocolates and the world around them, Caitlin and Natalie’s bouquet designs are practically endless.
“When you take the time to really look at the world around you, the ideas will follow,” says Caitlin.
It’s a wonder how chocolate bouquets haven’t been such a fixture in our lives already. With the online shopping and gifting market booming in the last few years, it was only a matter of time before something as quirky and imaginative as Blissful Blooms came our way. Working solely online and with a few pop-up markets throughout the year, a store in the not-too-distant future is a real possibility for Natalie and Caitlin.
Aside from a number of pop-up ventures on the horizon, Natalie and Caitlin will soon be incorporating fresh flowers into their designs (“The idea is a little different to other chocolate bouquet companies, in that we wanted the customer to be left with something even after the chocolate has gone!” adds Caitlin)
“Our motto from the onset was to be very customer focused and adapt to the market as required,” says Caitlin.
“Our style is and always will be expanding.”
If you’re after the perfect Mother’s Day gift, then look no further than Blissful Blooms. Their online store has the perfect array of chocolate and flower arrangements, and let’s not forget that one person alone can’t possibly eat all that chocolate.
