Shabby chic, calico coolness and heavenly haute couture were on show last Wednesday at Cloister Workrooms on Pirie St.
The collective, made up of Angela Carrig, Christopher Arblaster, Andrija Sala and Lachy Lang, featured a personal showcase of designs, alongside other independent names including Celia Dottore, Connie Augoustinos, Eleanor Amor, Jason van Hamburg, Matea Glusevic and Nathan Peacock (pause for breath!).
The opening was a unique collection of modern creativity and a brilliant exhibition of SA fashion. With many pieces taking Inspiration from the tried, timeless and tiedyed pieces of yesteryear; they gave a nod to high fashion whilst keep firm roots in quality workmanship.
Some creators, however, threw caution to the wind and worked off trend; their individuality and inventiveness shining intensely through their alternative attire. While the designs may not be everyone’s cup of tea, they certainly show off the creative and playful nature of some of our up and coming.
Designer Lachy Lang took his designs to a more spiritual level, pulling his inspiration from the city of Churches quite literally. Priest collars and hallelujah hoodies received high praise from the masses.
An exciting glimpse into things to come for adelaide fashionistas – Cloister Workshop opening is a step in the right detection for the future of fashion.
