Lockwood General serves up trendy bottomless brunches in the East

A slice of Burnside history, ‘Lockwood General’ is serving up bottemless brunches 7-days-a-week in the Eastern suburbs.

If you wind back the clock around 200 years, Burnside Village looked very different. The village as we know it today didn’t exist, of course. But what did exist was the Burnside General Store.

And that’s what one of the café’s owners Adam Robinson fell in love with.

“The building transported me back to that time. So I wanted to bring a slice of the 1800s to the Eastern suburbs, when Burnside was just paddocks.”

It’s in this slice of history where you can enjoy bottomless brunches, 7-days-a-week.

The food offering is unique, with the popular café running an all-day, bottomless brunch menu alongside a large selection of share and side offerings. Robinson says that this is down to the communal philosophy behind Lockwood General.

“Our idea is that the menu is shared. It’s a communal dining experience in which you can be engaged with a group of people and socialise while you eat, without being bound by one dish” he said.

The menu caters for everyone, with the bottomless brunch including the chef’s selection of share plates, a main course, and some sweet pastry treats to polish it all off. There’s the delicious, crispy tom yum fried chicken, with crispy shallots, roasted peanuts and coriander; the mouth-watering burrata, with pickled pumpkin, muscatel and sunflower seeds; and green kalamata olives, with grapefruit, pink peppercorns and charred coriander seeds.

On top of all that, there is – of course – bottomless bubbles, beer and cider. Cheers to that!

Robinson, who owns Lockwood General alongside James McIntyre and James Lambert, says the bottomless brunches are extremely popular with customers, and that the sharing of meals creates a vibrant energy that is unmatched.

Lockwood General operate on a walk in only basis, apart from the bottomless brunches, which can be booked online.

You can find Lockwood General at 35 High St, Burnside SA 5066. For more information, and to book, click here.
