Adelaide Fringe

London calling for comedian magician, Tony Roberts and his wife, Monski Mouse.

Adelaide Fringe performer couple Tony Roberts and Monski Mouse are set to take their family and careers to London following the Adelaide Fringe.

“It’s been an amazing and busy Adelaide Fringe for us so far, with sold out shows for Late Night Ace High over the weekend and Shuffle Me Straight opening on Monday (7 March)” says Monski Mouse, “After the Fringe we have ten days to pack and on the 11th day we get on a plane”.

Tony Roberts opened his close-up card magic and comedy show, Shuffle Me Straight in the Garden of Unearthly Delights on the 7 March at 7pm, produced by his partner Monski Mouse.

“This is my ‘Farewell Adelaide’ season of Shuffle Me Straight before we head off to try our luck in the big city” says Roberts.

“We have spent the last three years together based in Adelaide, but traveling to Europe for the summer festival season, this year we plan to stay longer than the summer and try out the London winter too” says Monski Mouse who cites the difficultly of forging a full time career in Adelaide, as the couples main motivation for making the move.

“Adelaide is an amazing place to live but there just isn’t the audiences to sustain a career here, Tony and I are keen to take our acts to a broader audience and be pushed to grow and develop our work” says, Monski Mouse.

“For me as an escapologist busker, making the change from Rundle Mall to Covent Garden Piazza as my home pitch is something I am really excited about” says Tony Roberts, “and the opportunity to crack the stand-up and cabaret scene on top of that is a challenge I am relishing.”

“Don’t worry, we’ll be back for the festival season next year” says Monski Mouse, “Adelaide is where we met and spent the first year of our daughter, Monalisa’s life, and Fringe-time in Adelaide is always the best time for a performer.”

Is the couple worried about heading to a Country hit hard by the GFC?
“Comedy has always been a fair companion to tragedy, there’s nothing people need more that a good laugh when times are hard, I intend to give them that” says Roberts.
