Kangaroo Island has been named one of Australia’s top family-friendly holiday destinations, according to travel bible Lonely Planet.
The travel book publisher has placed the island in eighth-place in an article on its website, to coincide with the release of the new 
edition of Travel With Children.
Kangaroo Island is the only South Australian destination to make the list, along with Sydney Harbour, the Great Barrier Reef and Gold Coast’s theme parks.
Lonely Planet describes Kangaroo Island as “South Australia’s most underrated weekender”.
Among the list of recommended “kiddie distractions” are Seal Bay Conservation Park, Remarkable Rocks, sand boarding, pelican-feeding sessions, wildlife parks and honey farms.
