The awards continue to roll in for Adelaide Hills winery Longview Vineyard this month, with the 2014 Whippet Sauvignon Blanc earning 96 points at The Royal Melbourne Wine Show last week.
Longview Vineyard Marketing Director, Mark Saturno said: The Melbourne Wine Show is considered by many as one of the most important in the country and out of all the Sauvignon Blancs submitted, Longview won Best Sauvignon Blanc in show.”
We are over the moon with this result and happy to be recognized once again as one of the nation’s top Sauvignon Blanc producers.”
In addition Longview was also awarded four bronze medals for the following wines:
2012 W. Wagtail Sparkling Chardonnay Pinot
2012 Devil’s Elbow Cabernet Sauvignon
2010 The Piece Shiraz
2012 Nebbiolo
2014 Whippet Savvy B Details: $19.50 per bottle
Grown on Longview estate’s south-western slopes, this wine shows all the hallmarks of fine, cool-climate Adelaide Hills Sauvignon Blanc. The 2014 vintage was very cool and the Longview team started to see amazing flavours in the fruit even at low sugar levels. Picking this Sauvignon Blanc before a series of rain events proved to be a master stroke and the wine displays aromas of fresh cutgrass, asparagus, honeysuckle, white flowers and lemon. The palate displays refreshing melon, gooseberry and nettle characters and finishes with incredible mouth-watering acidity.
