Lotus Lounge on Morphett Street has been under the radar for the last month or so. Over the years, the bustling bar has welcomed many a lover of disco and house music, and is now set to open its doors once again.
Now helmed by George Lelos (also known as DJ Ezee G), Todd Cavender, and Andrea Deane, Lotus Lounge is celebrating its reopening this coming weekend.
According to Lelos, the venue has undergone a bit of tender love and care, now featuring an impressive outdoor mural and new booths. Lelos has also assembled what he calls “a bar crew of hospo all-stars, led by local legend Terry Nicolitsis.”
“It’s high level service paired with sophisticated disco and house music,” he says. “The aim is to continue to present top shelf international acts, as I’ve done for the previous six years.”
Lelos and Cavender are passionate about keeping the essence of Lotus Lounge.
“It’s been an iconic venue for the last 15 years,” says Lelos. “It’s not commercial. It’s always been focussed on music and service, and we’re certainly maintaining that focus.”
Musically, Lotus Lounge will continue to play underground house and disco.
“It’s a lounge early on,” says Lelos. “As the night continues, it becomes more of a club.”
Doors open this weekend from 9pm, and Lotus Lounge will be partying until 5am. For more opening weekend info, see here.
DJs include James Curd, Ezee G, Troy J Been, Juddo, Lonely D & Yunny (Housing Boom), and Todd C.
