Adam McGuinness labels himself as a local boy slinging local burgers.
The 24-year-old started Adelaide’s first pop-up burger shop, Loud Burger Co., just over eight months ago with his high school friend Daniel Byrne.
Noticing Adelaide’s burger scene was starving for classic American cheeseburgers, Adam says he and Daniel set out with the aim to provide just that.
“[We wanted to bring] something that gave you that feeling, the one that takes you back to enjoying your first ever cheeseburger,” Adam says.
“No over the top, ridiculous ingredients; just simple ‘America smash burger’ culture inspired.
“It doesn’t need to be fancy; it just needs to be tasty and, done well and that’s what we do.”
The duo serves classic American smashed cheeseburgers, dunk sauce burgers (as the name suggests, a burger dunked in cheese sauce) and mouth-watering loaded fries, all from their three-metre by 4.5-metre gazebo.
Still working their full-time jobs, Adam as head chef at McLaren Vale’s Mullygrub and Daniel as a teacher, Adam says Loud Burger Co. started a side project for the pair.
Despite Loud Burger Co.’s popularity, Adam says he’s focussed on catering for local events and private functions but hopes to expand his and Daniel’s venture into a food truck.
“We just decided to open this pop-up burger shop, just as a side hustle,” Adam says.
“We’re trying to cater to [local] people, instead of reaching out to big events.”
The pair have featured at the McLaren Vale Night Market, Port Noarlunga Golf Range and Penny’s Hill Wines.
You can also catch Adam and Daniel firing up their grill in-front of the Christies Beach’s Steak Shoppe every second Sunday for Cheeseburger Sundays.
Loud Burger Co. has also seen collaborations with Big Shed Brewing, to pair the perfect burger with the perfect brew.
