Music superstar Lupe Fiasco is heading to Adelaide this January, and WE CAN’T WAIT!
Lupe Fiasco reinvigorated hip hop with the release of his highly anticipated debut album, 2006’s Food & Liquor – and he’ll be playing it again to an intimate crowd at The Gov.
Creative, imaginative and void of all hip-hop clichés, the album waxed poetic on personal and political plights, paving the path for a socially conscious superstar to emerge.
The album’s notable tracks were aimed at righting the wrongs of society’s ills, such as “American Terrorist,” which denounces America’s association with terrorism, “Daydreamin” which tackles the genre’s preoccupation with materialism and misogyny, and the lead single “Kick push” which synced the seemingly unconnected worlds of hip hop and skateboarding.
Amidst sparking a brand and becoming the most compelling rap album of 2006, LUPE FIASCO’S Food & Liquor peaked at No 1 on the Billboard Top 10 and received three nominations for the Grammy Awards including Best Rap Album, Best Rap Song and Best Rap Solo Performance.
Since his seismic debut LUPE FIASCO has won several gold, platinum and multi-platinum certifications among a slew of hit singles which include “The Show Goes On,” “Battle Scars,” with Australia’s own Guy Sebastian and “Old School Love,” which features Ed Sheeran.
Join LUPE FIASCO as he pays homage to his enlightening critically acclaimed debut ‘Food & Liquor’ as well as a spin of selections from his greatest hits.
