A South Australian hotel has been recognised as the best in Australia and New Zealand, being awarded a score of 98.5 at the Condé Nast Traveller’s 2025 Readers’ Choice Awards. These awards celebrate the best of global travel through the eyes of those who live and breathe it most – the travellers themselves. Now in its 28th year, the annual Condé Nast Traveller awards pull together a list of the world’s most beloved destinations, hotels, and travel experiences, all chosen by readers.

These awards celebrate everyone from the pilots and guides to chefs and concierges, focusing on the personalities behind the experiences that make travel meaningful. This year, one South Australian spot has earned its place among the world’s best. The Barossa Valley’s ‘The Louise’ has been named the Best Hotel in Australia and New Zealand, and it’s no surprise why.

For General Manager Hannah McGregor, the recognition is a huge deal. “I couldn’t be prouder of the team. We’re absolutely delighted to have received this recognition, it’s a huge honour and a real testament to the dedication and heart our people bring to The Louise every single day,” she said.

With its position among the rolling hills, timeless design, and luxurious dining, guests are fully immersed in all things Barossa whilst staying there. “At The Louise, our guests enjoy personal access to the region’s most iconic wineries as well as intimate, small-scale cellar doors, passionate producers and local artists and their work.

“We’re fortunate to have great neighbours, and through these close relationships, we’re able to curate a range of signature and exclusive experiences — the kind that are only available to those staying with us.”

At the heart of The Louise lies Appellation, its acclaimed restaurant, where South Australian produce shines in dishes that embody a sense of place. “Our onsite restaurant, Appellation is a destination in itself, renowned for showcasing premium local produce, a real sense of place for our guests,” said Hannah.

Being recognised by Condé Nast Traveller is no small feat. Joining The Louise in recognition was Morocco’s La Mamounia, named the Best Hotel in the World. This was followed by renowned venues like The Siam in Thailand, Thompson Nashville and The Finch, both in the US, then Raffles Jaipur and Four Seasons Hotel Tokyo at Otemachi.

“It’s an incredible honour to be recognised on the world stage, especially by such a respected publication like Condé Nast Traveller,” said Hannah. “Being named the Best Hotel in Australia and New Zealand is not only a proud moment for us, but also a testament to the dedication and heart our team puts into every guest experience.

“What makes this recognition even more meaningful is that it comes from our guests, people who have stayed with us, connected with our team, explored the region, and left with lasting memories. We’re proud to represent both our property and our local community on the global stage, and it motivates us to continue delivering stays that reflect the best of our region.”
