A literally, ‘hidden gem’ has launched in Mount Barker, offering up luxury shopping in the heart of the hills town.
MANE underground.collective is a venture by long-loved hills hairdressing salon, MANE – offering up a retail experience unlike no other in the depths of their underground cellar.
Opening up in a 137-year-old building that once housed the first purpose-built butcher shop in Adelaide, the store is located downstairs in what was the old ‘cold room’ of the butchery.
Presenting unique and boutique homewares and collections, the idea behind this luxury shop came to salon owner Kate Faehrmann, through chats with her clients that made her aware of the lack of luxury retail experiences in the hills.
The idea was to bring the space to the salon to not only compliment what was already established with the business upstairs, but to extend its offerings to the wider community by inviting locals and visitors alike to the new shop.
“My motivation was to have a high-end shopping option in the area”, Kate says. “We’ve had to either go down to town or shop online in the past, and I really wanted to bring that element of luxury to Mount Barker”.
An epic eight weeks, brought the vision to life, with the store stocking a range of beautiful lotions and hand creams from Salus Body, unique pieces from Bionic and Ahar jewellers and leather products from Woolf as well as Stich & Hide.
Home decor includes gin and cocktail glasses, as well as diffusers and candles, with continuing evolving stock that keeps up with the latest looks on trend.
With MANE hair salon recently turning one, there was no better opportunity than to celebrate by allowing visitors to have a sneak-peek at the company’s newest venture. Giving a selected few a look into the shop over the weekend, MANE underground.collective is now open to the public, and with Christmas just around the corner, you’re sure to find that special gift within the hidden walls of this delightful shop.
Make sure to keep up to date with their happenings, by following the MANE underground.collective Facebook page.
Find them at 31 Gawler Street, Mount Barker SA. Open Monday through to Saturday.
