Macy Gray announces Australian tour to celebrate 25th anniversary of debut album ‘On How Life Is’

Music icon Macy Gray is set to celebrate the 25th anniversary of her debut album, ‘On How Life Is’, with an exclusive Australian tour this July.

Macy Gray, the distinguished musical talent, has announced an exclusive Australian celebration tour. This tour, commencing in July marks the 25th anniversary of her successful debut album, ‘On How Life Is’. Concerts are set to commence in Hobart, moving on to Adelaide, Brisbane, Melbourne, the Gold Coast and other cities.

Gray’s career spans over 25 prosperous years, characterised by unique R&B music. Her work reflects a devotion to her craft, drawing on rich, historical influences in music while simultaneously retaining a sense of freshness and originality. On account of her exceptional work, she enjoys a massive global fan base and has sold over 25 million albums worldwide.

The tour will celebrate 25 years since the release of ‘On How Life Is’. This album was critically acclaimed and earned Macy Gray fame and respect as a leading figure in the R&B and Soul genres. It marked her breakthrough into the music scene, a noteworthy event in her career.

Gray has received five Grammy nominations over the years and won the Grammy Award for Best Pop Vocal Performance in 2000 for ‘I Try’, a song from her debut album. She has also been honoured with two BRIT Awards.

Speaking about the tour, Gray stated, “I’m over the moon to be celebrating the 25th anniversary of my debut album ‘On How Life Is’. First stop: Down Under! Me and the band will be live in Hobart, Gold Coast, Melbourne, Sydney, Adelaide, Brisbane, Wyong, Canberra and Thirroul in July. Please join me for a big night to remember!”

David M. Hawkins, the promoter for the tour, shared his excitement. He stated that the album ‘On How Life Is’ is now a classic, cherished by many for hits like ‘I Try’. He further added, “I believe Macy is one of the greatest artists of our generation, she is so prolific with her writing and recording. This show is not to be missed, by anyone who knows the album and its star.”

The concerts will start with the complete ‘On How Life Is’ album being played in sequential order, followed by Gray’s other hits. These concerts promise to be a marvellous event celebrating a remarkable album performed live alongside her other hits. Special guests for the concerts will be announced in due course.

Pre-sales for venues and ticket outlets excluding Hobart and Canberra start from 9.00 am (local times) on Tuesday, 16 April. For all other shows excluding Hobart, general public tickets will go on sale at 9.00 am (local times) on Friday, 19 April 2024, available on the same website.
