Major delays expected for Thursday with train drivers to go on strike

Train services on Thursday, April 11, 2024 will experience disruptions between approximately 9am and 3pm due to industrial action.

Train services tomorrow, Thursday, April 11, 2024, will experience disruptions between approximately 9am and 3pm due to industrial action initiated by certain drivers employed by the private contractor Keolis Downer Adelaide.

This morning, Adelaide Metro received final confirmation that industrial action will result in the suspension of train services between 10am and 2pm tomorrow. However, residual disruptions are anticipated to commence from around 9am. Normal train operations are expected to resume after 3pm.

Adelaide Metro is endeavoring to minimize inconvenience for train passengers. Nevertheless, due to the timing of the action, there will be limited availability of spare buses and drivers to operate substitute bus services.

A limited number of substitute bus services will operate every 30 minutes to hourly (depending on the line) from 9am on Thursday until 3pm. These services will closely follow typical train routes. For further information, including substitute bus stop locations and alternative bus services, please refer to the Adelaide Metro website.

Customers are urged to plan ahead and explore alternative transport options, such as regular bus services, trams, or arranging transportation with family or friends.

Passengers are also being notified of this service disruption through signage at Adelaide Railway Station and announcements made throughout the network’s stations.

Adelaide Metro will continue to keep customers informed of impacts to train services via all available channels, including at adelaidemetro.com.au, on the Adelaide Metro’s X account and the Adelaide Metro’s Facebook page.

Passengers can also call the Adelaide Metro Infoline on 1300 311 108 or visit the Adelaide Metro InfoCentre in the Adelaide Railway Station (both open 7am-8pm daily) with any enquiries.
