Make Someone Feel Like A Big Cheese This Christmas

Cheese is one of life’s great pleasures, so what better way to show your love at Christmas time, than to give some dairy delights to the important people in your life.

Before we begin, let’s just make it clear – this story is for cheese lovers, or people with cheese loving friends and family. Now that crucial fact is out of the way, let’s begin. Cheese is one of life’s great pleasures, so what better way to show your love at Christmas time, than to give some dairy delights to the important people in your life.

udder-delights-fondueThe award-winning Adelaide Hills-based artisan cheese company – Udder Delights – renowned for its creative take on all things cheese, has kept the trend going with a selection of fun and yummy vouchers, unique cheese experiences and gift hampers that not only make this year’s shopping so much easier but are sure to leave recipients feeling like veritable big cheeses.

Executive Director Sheree Sullivan, who also heads up the company’s Cheese Cellar on Hahndorf’s main street, said the catalogue caters for all tastes and budgets and had been well-received by the public in search of that standout and somewhat different Christmas gift.

“It’s always tough finding something original for those in our lives and we sincerely hope our selection will spare loved ones from waking up on Christmas morning to another serve of socks and jocks,” she said.

Top of the Udder Delights voucher list is the company’s celebrated ‘Raw Experience’ platter for two, where you’ll savour the delights of Australia’s first living raw cow’s milk blue cheese approved for public consumption, King Saul, accompanied by Udder Delights’ own barrel aged fortified wine, Riverland muscatels, handmade Spanish sweet/savoury crisp bread and sparkling water. ($49 for 2 people)

Other offerings include vouchers for:

The Udder Delights High Tea that, while a classic embracing style and substance, offers a cheesy contemporary twist on an old traditional favourite ($90 for 2 people);

The decadent Udder Delights Cheese Fondue that, in the words of those fortunate enough to have indulged, is ‘a pot of molten joy’ – it’s just as great sharing it with a table of friends as it is as the centrepiece of an intimate setting ($49 for 2 people); and

The Easy Cheesy Home Cheese Making Classes, aptly described by Sheree as ‘the gift that keeps on giving’ as it leaves you with the basic skills to try – and eventually excel at – cheese making at home, to experiment in the rewarding world of cheese making and to take control of the food you eat ($185 per person).

Sheree’s husband, Managing Director and Master Cheesemaker Saul – who’s also the creator of and name behind ‘King Saul Raw Blue’ – has also released a special vintage of 2014 King Saul just in time for Christmas. This vintage is now two years old – with both the texture and flavour having gone through a most gratifying maturation.

King Saul is to cheese what Grange is to wine and is arguably Australia’s most exclusive product of its kind, being terroir reflective and offering amazing depth of flavour. As a stand-out Christmas gift, it comes beautifully presented in locally handmade wooden boxes, French illustrated labels, with its own batch and vintage number ($150 per 500g box).

For those a little unsure of precisely what they’re after, Udder Delights also offers ‘create-your-own’ gift hampers tailored to individual budgets and gourmet desires. The friendly and knowledgeable team at the company’s Cheese Cellar is on hand between now and Christmas to help you build the perfect hamper of handcrafted goat and cow milk cheeses and accompaniments.

“So if you’re looking to spoil that special someone with the best food and produce experiences our wonderful state has to offer, Udder Delights is a must on your shopping list,” added Sheree.
