With many people setting a long list of somewhat ambitious New Year’s resolutions, it may be time to think about combining the top ones with volunteering.
If you want to learn a new skill, exercise more, give something back or meet new people – all of these, and more, may be achieved through a perfect volunteering position.
By setting reasonable and realistic goals, your outcomes can be more achievable. Think about what you want to do, who you would like to do it for and start your search.
Volunteering SA&NT CEO, Evelyn O’Loughlin says that there are hundreds of volunteer positions available on their FREE WeDo app or on their website. They’re also linked through SEEK and Go Volunteer.
“The FREE WeDo app is easily downloaded through google play or apple and once your profile is created, you can search positions and get notified when they become available.
“You can even select your favourite charity or not-for-profit organisation to see if they are advertising volunteering positions,” says Ms O’Loughlin.
If you are a first-time volunteer or don’t know where to start, then Volunteering SA&NT offer a one-on-one matching service. The experienced and friendly VolunteerASSIST team can arrange a meeting in person at our Adelaide office or over the phone. They’ll ask a series of easy questions to match skills and passion to suitable and interesting volunteering positions.
Why not make 2021 your year to make a difference in the community.
