Making a splash, the new Adelaide Aquatic Centre’s building blocks take shape

Adelaide’s brand-new world-class aquatic centre in North Adelaide is set to open next summer, with giant beams delivered by crane trucks through the city in the middle of the night.

The massive wooden beams were carefully lifted into place, offering a glimpse of the impressive structure taking shape. The numbers are staggering – 52 giant beams and columns, hundreds of roofing panels, and nearly 8,000 screws holding it all together!

With construction moving full steam ahead, this state-of-the-art facility will soon be a favourite destination for the community to swim, play, and stay active.

The centre’s design with warm, natural tones will help it blend beautifully with the local landscape, while the spaces are created to be welcoming for everyone – regardless of age, ability, or background.

This exciting new facility is not only packed with fantastic features for fun and fitness, but the centre will be ultra environmentally friendly. Unlike the old centre, which relied on gas, the new aquatic centre will be powered by 100% renewable energy, making it all-electric and a sustainable choice for our community.
