Marina Pier dazzles this winter as umbrella lights, fine dining and exclusive wine events await

Experience Glenelg’s Marina Pier as it sparkles with Umbrella Lights and exclusive dining offers this winter. From gourmet dinners to unique wine pairings, explore the season’s delights at this enchanting seaside venue from June to September 2024.

Glenelg’s Marina Pier is set to sparkle this winter as the Umbrella Lights event returns, illuminating the pier with its striking installation until September 2024. This marks the third consecutive year for the event, which pairs the light display with exclusive retail and dining offers, drawing visitors to Adelaide’s scenic coastal front during the cooler months.

Jason Makris, CEO of Makris Group, highlighted the unique experience provided by the installation, sharing: “The Umbrella light installation at Marina Pier elevates its winter evening atmosphere, enchanting the waterfront dining experience under the captivating ambiance it creates.”

Featuring 14 umbrella-shaped light displays, the installation combines cool white lights for the frames with glowing blue lights for colour, creating a visually stunning appeal. As part of the festivities, Ellenika restaurant on the pier is treating patrons to live bouzouki music on Saturday nights. Damian Vasilevski, Owner of Ellenika shares: “During the winter months, people at our restaurant easily get a more intimate experience.”

Alongside the ongoing festivities, August will see the Marina Pier hosting the Gaffer Month Dinner on Thursday the 15th, a special event by Mr. Riggs supporting the Flinders Foundation. The dinner, to be held at Luciano’s, features a five-course shared menu paired with ten Mr. Riggs wines, accompanied by storytelling and insights from Ben Riggs himself.

Other key highlights include the exciting launch of new winter menus at The Wharf and Kahani Restaurant.

Outside the dining scene, NXT LVL Wellness is offering specials including discounted rates on their bath house experience and holistic wellness packages. These include access to mineral and ice baths, infrared saunas, and a variety of classes, along with IV infusions at reduced prices.

As the Marina Pier festivities come to a close, the Yalumba Rare and Fine Dinner at Seafire On The Marina will provide a finale on Thursday August 29th. Newly appointed head winemaker Sam Wigan will guide guests through a sophisticated dining experience, featuring a four-course menu paired with the Yalumba Rare & Fine collection. Priced at $270 per ticket, the dinner will celebrate Yalumba’s 175-year legacy.

Umbrella Lights at Marina Pier will conclude on Tuesday September 3rd, wrapping up another season of winter enchantment by the sea.
