Marion playground area reveals $65k upgrade

City of Marion is hosting a community event to celebrate Brolga Place Reserve’s new upgrades, including new outdoor fitness equipment.

The City of Marion has revealed that the Brolga Place Reserve at Sturt has undergone a bit of an upgrade!

After consultation with the local community, the council implemented several changes suggested by nearby residents. The Council upgrade of the neighbourhood playground includes:

  • A new barbecue
  • Refreshed line marking on the basketball court
  • A netball post and ring
  • Fitness equipment
  • New seating
  • A pathway to the basketball court
  • Natural landscaping

What’s more, the landscaping showcases native flowers to provide colour and natural irrigation.

To celebrate the $65,000 upgrade of Brolga Place Reserve, there will be an official opening hosted this morning from 10am. A coffee van, kids games, and instruction sessions on how to use the park fitness equipment will be featured in today’s festivities.

“Come along and enjoy the opening celebration from 10am to 11am this Saturday,” said Mayor of Marion Kris Hanna.

“We’ll have a coffee van there during the morning offering complimentary hot beverages and facilitators from the Move It program running basketball drills and games as well as an instruction session on how to use the park fitness equipment.

“The Move It program is a new partnership between the Cities of Marion, Mitcham, and Holdfast Bay, created to help communities discover new places and spaces in their council area, and the many ways they can keep active.”

Brolga Place Reserve is located just off Diagonal Road, around the corner from Marion Shopping Centre.
