Even if you love bacon, ham, and ice cream, as most people do, you probably never thought to put the three together. But luckily for meat lovers and ice cream fiends, somebody thought of it––and you might just recognise him!
MasterChef Australia’s 2018 winner Sashi Cheliah has created a ham and bacon ice cream recipe that is sure to surprise and delight your tastebuds.
A collaboration with company Australian Pork to raise awareness around the importance of supporting and buying local, the recipe combines breakfast and dessert flavours, and features not one, but two different types of local South Australian ham and bacon products from Barossa Fine Foods and Schultz Butchers.
The flavourful dish has readily available ingredients and processes so you can make the unique dish yourself and give it a try right at home! The four components are smoked ham ice cream made with creams and Barossa Fine Foods Ham, maple bacon made with brown sugar and maple syrup, honey rosemary crumb with icing sugar and butter, and fresh grapes and rosemary flowers for garnish.
This creation comes after a survey by Australian Pork revealing that 16% of South Australians are keen on trying a bacon or ham flavoured ice cream. If you’re among them, check out the step-by-step recipe below!
