On the last Sunday of July, former MasterChef icon and renowned food critic Matt Preston is heading to the Adelaide Hills to host a once-only event that’s in true South Australian style. As part of the much-loved Winter Reds festival, Matt will be hosting a relaxed yet refined long lunch at LOT.100 with a selection of the region’s most talented winemakers, and he’s inviting fellow foodies to come along.
LOT.100 is located in Hay Valley and is home to some of the region’s top food and beverage producers. LOT.100’s Head Chef and renowned culinary whiz, Shannon Fleming, formerly of Orana, Penfold’s Magill Estate, and The Star of Greece, will be joining Matt in taking you on a culinary journey that’s worthy of the big screen. You’ll be treated to canapes and tastings upon arrival, before being seated for a sumptuous three-course, wine-paired long lunch.

Matt will be joined by wine critic Tony Love to highlight the Adelaide Hills’s incredible cool-climate reds. The lunch will feature eighteen stand-out wines, each poured and presented by the very people who crafted them. This is a rare opportunity to chat with the creators themselves while enjoying their delightful creations.
Matt shared, “South Australia does festivals and wine like no other state. And that’s why I am excited to be the Adelaide Hills Winter Reds ambassador for 2025. I love a red wine from a cool climate. They are special because they are more elegant, have great varietal expression, and last in the cellar longer, that is, if you don’t drink them all first.”
And in classic Matt fashion, he joked, “If I were an Adelaide Hills red wine, I’d like to think that I was an estate-grown single vineyard Pinot Noir – elegant, understated, best in class, expensive. But, I am probably more like a fun-loving, but equally delicious, bottle of Adelaide Hills’ Shiraz. Why? Because I am round like the very best cherries and plums, and have a little spicy, fruity finish.”
