The 2023 Penny’s Hill ‘Yeenunga’ Single Vineyard McLaren Vale Grenache has been honoured with the prestigious “Best in Show” title at the 21st Decanter World Wine Awards.

Renowned as the largest and most influential wine competition in the world, the Decanter World Wine Awards saw Penny’s Hill Grenache impress judges with its exceptional quality and unique flavour profile, standing out as number one among 18,000 entries from across the globe.

“We’re thrilled with the timing of this recognition as Penny’s Hill enters a new chapter, adding new wines to the collection and featuring contemporary packaging highlighting the iconic Penny’s Hill red spot,” Penny’s Hill Chief Winemaker and General Manager Alexia Roberts said.

Under the leadership of Warren Randall, Executive Chairman of Randall Wine Group, the winery continues to maintain its tradition of producing outstanding wines. Alexia Roberts, who became Chief Winemaker in 2013 and General Manager in 2022, has been instrumental in shaping the brand’s direction.

“I have admired the consistent excellence of the Penny’s Hill range of wines for over 30 years, but every now and again, Penny’s Hill and McLaren Vale stun the world of wine,” Warren Randall said.

The award-winning 2023 Penny’s Hill ‘Yeenunga’ Single Vineyard Grenache is part of a new collection from their iconic vineyards. Planted over 50 years ago in McLaren Vale’s fertile soil, these Grenache vines produce grapes of exceptional quality. The 2023 ‘Yeenunga’ Grenache is available for purchase online for $100.

Penny’s Hill also earned a gold medal for their 2022 ‘Edwards Road’ Single Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon at the World Wine Awards.
