McLaren Vale restaurant wins gold in 2023 SA Tourism Awards

The Currant Shed has etched its name in gold at the 2023 South Australian Tourism Awards, taking home the top honor in the ‘Tourism Restaurants & Catering’ category.

The Currant Shed has etched its name in gold at the 2023 South Australian Tourism Awards, taking home the top honour in the ‘Tourism Restaurants & Catering’ category.

The prestigious event, held at the Adelaide Convention Centre, saw The Currant Shed emerge as a favourite among many of SA’s top restaurants and tourism providers.

The restaurant in McLaren Vale was joined by runners up in the same category L’Anse French Cafe in Port Lincoln (taking home silver) and the Watervale Hotel (taking home bronze).

The Currant Shed’s owners, Hamish & Emily, said “to be included on a list with the other outstanding tourism businesses recognised last night is extremely gratifying.”

“For 13 years we have remained laser-focused on ensuring every person who visits The Currant Shed has a great day out, a lovely meal, and leaves with a desire to return. Our pride in our team, suppliers and local community knows no bounds today.”

Nestled amidst a picturesque Tahitian lime grove and overlooking lush Cabernet vineyards, The Currant Shed offers a stylish lunch destination that has been serving great food since 2011.

Located in the heart of McLaren Vale on the Fleurieu Peninsula, the restaurant is just a short drive from Adelaide, making it a must-visit spot for both locals and tourists.

The Currant Shed shares its 70-acre estate with sister enterprises Shottesbrooke Vineyards and McLaren Vale Getaways, creating a trifecta of Drink, Dine & Stay.

This initiative allows visitors to immerse themselves in the full vineyard experience without ever having to leave the property.

With this latest accolade, The Currant Shed is now poised to represent South Australia on the national stage at the Qantas National Tourism Awards in Darwin come March 2024.
