McLaren Vale’s Vintage & Classic revs into town this April

The McLaren Vale Vintage & Classic is returning in April, bringing back a grand parade of motoring history to the streets of the region.

The McLaren Vale Vintage & Classic is returning in April, bringing back a grand parade of motoring history to the streets of the region, along with vintage fashion, local wines, gourmet food, and live entertainment.

In its 17th year, after its one hiatus due to COVID-19, the popular family-friendly community event will see more than 500 vintage and classic motor vehicles parade along the main street of McLaren Vale, against the stunning backdrop of nearby vineyards and wineries.

Newly appointed McLaren Vale Vintage & Classic Chairman, Nigel Williamson, is excited to be taking over the community event and bringing the region alive once again with the rumble of motors.

“In 2021, the event saw over 500 entrants showcasing their vintage and classic vehicles, with almost 20,000 spectators lining the streets,” Nigel said.

“After last year was sadly cancelled, we are determined to make the event bigger and better than ever before and are aiming for 600 entrants.

“Our event has a cut-off date of 20th March for vehicle submissions, which is necessary for printing our magazine inclusive of each entrants’ name and vehicle, so we are encouraging anyone who would like to showcase their vintage and classic motor vehicle to the public to enter and join in the festivities,” Nigel continued.

All vehicles will begin their journey on the open lawns located at the front of Serafino McLaren Vale, where entrants will be able to mingle with fellow car lovers and see the range of period outfits from participants.

The Grand Parade will officially commence at 11am with all vehicles rolling out of Serafino for the 2km drive along Main Road where thousands of spectators are expected to line the streets to enjoy the motorcade.

All spectators and entrants are then encouraged to head down to any of the twelve event wineries where a range of vehicles will be on display for visitors to get up close and personal along with food stalls, wine and live entertainment making for the perfect Sunday day out with family and friends.

The event’s annual charity dinner will be held the night before on Saturday, 22 April, with a special guest speaker soon to be confirmed.

“Last year’s charity event was very successful, despite having to be cancelled, as we were still able to donate $10,000 to the local hospital, where funds will be used to repair their pergolas.

“We also managed to donate $5,000 to the Southern Koala & Echidna Rescue for specialist equipment for their new Medical Service Centre. Our two local CFS units also received $500 each for ongoing equipment supplies.

“This just shows how important the McLaren Vale Vintage & Classic event truly is – yes, it’s a great opportunity for locals to come together as well as to showcase our beautiful region to the wider public, but it also gives back to the community, which is a huge reason as to why we put on this event,” Nigel concluded.

Vehicle registrations are now open and entries can be completed by filling out the online form, with an entry fee of $35 per vehicle. Entries will close on 20th March 2023. Vintage, classic, and motorcycle vehicles are all welcome.
