Meet The Makers At Hains & Co’s Intimate Gin Sea Voyage This Tasting Australia

This is an opportunity to learn from the makers, who will give you insights which will give you a deep appreciation of their craft.

Set sail with stalwarts of the local spirits scene in an afternoon of sensory exploration.

This event, hosted by the gin enthusiasts at Hains & Co, is a chance to meet the makers, to hear their stories, to educate your mind and palette, and taste some of South Australia’s favourite locals gins. Yes, you will be up close and personal with them!

“I’m so proud with where Adelaide is as a state that produces beautiful spirits,” says Marcus, The Admiral of the Hains & Co crew. “In the five years we have been around, we’ve loved wrapping our arms around local brands and being part of their journey from local gins, to serious players on the world scene.”

Hains & Co have always been devoted supporters of the local gin scene — even their first pour is Never Never Gin! (What is a first pour? It’s the brand bars use when you don’t specify the gin you want. The house gin, if you will.)

As part of Tasting Australia, they are bringing Never Never founder Sean Baxter, Applewood distiller Laura Carter, and Ounce Gin distiller David Danby together for an unforgettable, interactive, and intimate event.

You’ll also be experimenting with garnishes throughout the event — getting to touch and feel the botanicals that go into gin and to experience individual flavours and how they can subtly affect the overall taste of the gin.

And that’s not all. You’ll also sample delightful gin-inspired canapés, like gin-cured salmon, and Hains & Co’s famous sausage rolls (humorously named “sea pigs” in line with the nautical theme, of course).

At its heart, this event is about the makers and their gins. These gins are award-winning and you’ll get to appreciate why.

Guests inspired by their tasting experience can also go to the source. Each distiller represented at the Gin Sea Voyage has a cellar door.

You’ll find Never Never — winner of the world’s best classic gin at the 2019 World Gin Awards — at their brand new cellar door in McLaren Vale. Imperial Measures, maker of Ounce Gin, is a stone’s throw away in Thebarton. Head for the Adelaide Hills to visit Applewood, which is based at Gumeracha.

Hains & Co’s Gin Sea Voyage is part of Tasting Australia. There are two opportunities to take part in this event, on Saturday, 28 March and Sunday, 5 April from 2—4pm. Tickets are $95 per person and you can get yours here.

You can find Hains & Co at 23 Gilbert Place, Adelaide.

Keep up to date with them through Facebook and Instagram.
