They’re fluffy, happy and the perfect mascot for, well, just about anything really, but in this instance, beer.
Nestled amongst the rolling hills in the Southern seaside town of Myponga, The Smiling Samoyed Brewery is a beautiful place to visit and sample one of the four beers from its core range or one of the seasonal, single batch beers.
Since opening its doors in 2012, Smiling Samoyed Brewery has made quite the name for itself on the craft beer scene winning multiple awards including ‘Best Beer in Show’ with every single drop brewed onsite at the small, family-owned brewery.
What started as a home hobby has turned into quite the venture with owners Simon and Kate now offering a large range of craft beers for every palate with their original 12 Paws Pale Ale a favourite amongst the masses. The beautifully crafted IPAs and delicious range of ales have put the microbrewery on the map and can be found at a number of venues around SA.
But it isn’t just the beer that’s winning awards. Hoppy and Kent are the popular namesakes of Smiling Samoyed with Hoppy taking home the coveted title of ‘Brewery Dog of the Year’ in 2018.
Located just a stone’s throw away from the ocean, the rustic cellar door is an idyllic spot to spend an afternoon down south where, if you’re lucky, you’ll be able to see the brewing in action with the artform clearly visible through open windows leading into the dining room.
A family-friendly spot, Smiling Samoyed have the perfect drop even for those who may not be quite old enough to enjoy a brew. Handcrafted by South Australian artisan sweet maker, Geraldton Hill, the Smiling Samoyed Hot Chocolate is next level! Stir your delicious, chocolate Samoyed pup-sicle into hot milk and watch the theatrics as the smooth, velvety chocolate melts away.
Open 7 days a week, Simon, Kate, Hoppy and Kent will be waiting to greet you with a smile.
The Smiling Samoyed is located at 20-22 Hansen Street, Myponga 5202.
