Lambrook Wines began as a twinkle in Adam and Brooke Lampit’s eye. A glimmer of an idea, beginning with two small parcels of fruit and a half-crazy idea of making their own wine label.

Now, 14 years and a Norwood-based wine warehouse later, Lambrook has gone from a “twinkle” to something absolutely stellar. It’s a shining star performer and Adelaide Hills success story, seeing two people living their dream and turning a product once bottled in their kitchen to a highly-requested bottle sold at restaurants.

A turning point for the duo was opening their wine warehouse in 2019, which offered an inner-city destination for wine tastings, private functions, and wine activations. The venue, however, really catapulted into the Adelaide scene when they asked renowned muralist, Jack Fran, to commission a staggering 15m long and 5m high mural of a woman now affectionately known as ‘Stellar’.

Stellar truly makes Lambrook’s wine warehouse shine, becoming the face and inspiration for the wine brand. Taking on a life, personality, and persona of her own, Stellar has quickly become the star of the show, with guests across Adelaide visiting to take photos of and with her.

Consequently, Adam and Brooke have launched a new range of wines, which incorporate the essence of the beloved mural, so admirers can take the mural home with them.

“When you walk in the door, you’re not expecting to see this amazing piece of artwork on such a large scale… it’s a show piece,” says Brooke.

“We had a lot of people say we should put the mural on a wine label. And really, it made sense. Now when people think of our brand and warehouse, we can be a conversation starter around the dinner table and shared with friends.”

Entitled ‘Stellar’, the new wine range includes a vegan-friendly Adelaide Hills Syrah, Rosé, and Pinot Gris, all of which have the mural on the wine label.

The new 2022 ‘Stellar’ Pinot Gris has been described as the “ultimate superstar”, offering clean and crisp flavours of nashi pears, green apples, and white peaches.

The Pinot Gris is complemented with the crispy, dry piquancy of the 2022 ‘Stellar’ Rosé. The Rosé showcases notes of strawberries and blueberries, with a racy acid finish – perfect for the personality of Stellar.

Finally, the 2021 ‘Stellar’ Syrah rounds out the collection and is undoubtedly a star performer, which continues to be stylish, elegant, and cool. On a base of pepper of solid oak, the Syrah drops hints of blackberries, plums, and lavender on the palate – all the ingredients of a truly stellar drink.

While not ‘exclusive’ per se, Adam says only a limited amount of the premium range bottles have been produced, so you’ll have to grab them quickly while stocks last.

“The Lambrook labels are traditionally quite reserved, with not too much colour. This collection is bright, it’s funky, it stands out, and its vegan,” says Adam.

Adam says the bottles are “beautiful” and essentially “an artwork in itself”. The team at Lambrook recommend keeping the bottles and repurposing them, perhaps as a makeshift vase!
