Wandering down the bustling streets of Prospect, you might not expect to discover a little taste of Scandinavia—but that’s exactly what you’ll find when you climb the steps into the quaint Mekko Market & Cafe.

You know when you ask someone where they got those gorgeous pants and they say “an op shop” and all hope of ever owning those pants disappears? Well, forget those pants! At Mekko Market & Cafe, you can find your own unique item of clothing that’ll have everyone looking on in envy.

Apparently, recycling clothing is a huge thing in Scandinavia, so the masterminds behind Mekko Market & Cafe brought the practice with them here, and opened a

After you have a little look over the racks of quality, pre-loved clothes, then grab a seat on the terrace for a meal. Mekko Market & Cafe is open for brekkie and lunch—dinner is only Friday and Saturday night. The dinner menu is also different to the brekkie/lunch menu, which just means you have more reasons to visit!

If you swing on by after this weekend, they’ll have introduced their newly revamped summer menu, with a few upgraded best-sellers (the popcorn chicken is here to stay!) and some newbies, like a ricotta donut with caramel sauce, vanilla, honeycomb, and roasted hazelnuts. It’s the donut we never knew we needed.

The salad bar is also here to stay, boasting smoked salmon, roast pumpkin, or chicken lentil options that you can change up to suit your tastes—perfect for a takeaway lunch!

You can find Mekko Market & Cafe at 89 Prospect Road, open Monday to Thursday 8am to 4pm, Friday and Saturday 8am to late, and Sunday 8am to 4pm.
