There’s no doubt that Adelaidians have experienced a rollercoaster of a week as the state begins to emerge from lockdown and adapt to the constant changing of restrictions. However, there is no better way to beat COVID blues than with pasta, pizza and Italian wine.

While we’ve all managed to handle the curveballs thrown our way, Mercato, Campbelltown’s authentic Italian bar and pantry, has had their fair share of COVID stress – but this weekend, they want to share the love with South Aussies.

For the next two days, Mercato will be offering 20% off all* purchases, both in-store and online, allowing us to experience Italy’s best products at home or in person at the Campbelltown storefront. The offer ends July 31.

“Our motto and aim are to share the best of Italy with South Australia,” says staff member Jianna Caporaso.

“Anything you find amazing about Italy, you can find it at Mercato, whether that be the community or the amazing pasta and products.”

Discover the mouth-watering chocolates Italian producers Majani and Bodrato and indulge in the sweet ‘Labrusca’ Rosso Reggiano from Lini, with the wine transporting you to the heart of the Italian Po Valley region.

South Australian products also shine at Mercato, with the company intertwining the best flavours from the state and Italy.

Elevate your pasta dishes with the buttery and peppery Elisi first press olive oil, and enjoy a rich cup of coffee in-store from D’Angelo, local Thebarton roasters. Mercato also sells D’Angelo beans wholesale, so you can have an Italian-like espresso from your own home.

The Italian bar and pantry re-opened last Saturday after closing due to being one of SA’s many COVID exposure sites. Reopening safely with SA Health, Mercato is eager to see the friendly faces of customers.

“It’s awesome being back open, the bar staff are especially excited. It’s a really great atmosphere having people back inside the store,” says Caporaso.

“It’s been a pretty full-on few weeks, but we’ve knuckled down and we’ve made it through. We’ve got a really good family and staff here.”

While the online store offers an array of amazing products, visiting the Campbelltown store is an absolute must. Mercato’s walls are lined with creamy and sharp cheeses, delectable meats, and other Italian goodies.

“Just get out there and grab a takeaway coffee, that’s the best way to support small businesses,” says Caporaso.

Enjoy pasta, pizza and homemade pastries with friends over a glass of wine as you settle into the Italian bar atmosphere.

The ideology of Mercato centres around the Italian proverb ‘a tavola nessuno diventa vecchio’ which translates to ‘at the table no one grows old’, with the Caporaso family dedicating their lives to providing South Australians with the finest local and imported Italian produce.

The Caporaso family has been the heartbeat of Mercato since 1972, with founders Mario and Imma opening the store to showcase the Italian small goods, cheeses and coffee. Their passion lives on through their son John Caporaso, who now runs the Mercato business.

Enjoy a little slice of Italy when visiting Mercato at 625-627 Lower North East Road, Campbelltown. The 20% discount offer runs for two days from Friday 30 July and ends on Saturday July 31. Offer* excludes hampers, spirits and bulk produce.
