Meta is experiencing a major global outage since this morning, with users across the world reporting issues with Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp. The disruption has left many unable to access the platforms or post updates, with some users unable to send messages on Messenger as well.
Facebook addressed the issue through a post to its official page, saying: “Hey friends. We’re aware that a technical issue is impacting some users’ ability to access Facebook. We’re working to get things back to normal as quickly as possible and apologise for any inconvenience.”
Meta’s “status and outages business products” page also confirmed the ongoing disruptions, saying: “We are currently experiencing major disruption impacting message delivery on Messenger Platform. This issue started at 9:58am PST (4am AEST). Our engineering teams are investigating the issue. We will provide another update within one hour or sooner if additional information is available.”
While users can still access Instagram and Facebook, posting and interacting with content are major issues. Comments are not appearing in Meta Business Manager, posts are failing to upload, and users are receiving error messages such as “Something went wrong. Please try again later.”
The cause of the outage remains unclear, but Meta has assured users that its engineering teams are working to resolve the problem as quickly as possible.
