Iconic metal band Metallica have cancelled their Australia and New Zealand concerts due to frontman James Hetfield entering rehab.

In a statement on Facebook from Lars Ulrich, Kirk Hammett and Rob Trujillo, it has been confirmed that Metallica’s upcoming ‘WorldWired’ tour throughout October and November has been canned.

“Our brother James has been struggling with addiction on and off for many years. He has now, unfortunately, had to re-enter a treatment program to work on his recovery again.”

They have also confirmed that all shows in Australia and New Zealand, including Enhanced Experiences and Black Tickets, will be fully refunded.

Whilst no plans of a future tour can be cemented, they have stated that they will return.

“We fully intend to make our way to your part of the world as soon as health and schedule permit.”
