MFS launches recruitment campaign with focus on diversity

Applications open today for one of the state’s most sought-after jobs, with the Metropolitan Fire Service is launching its latest recruitment campaign.

Applications are now open for one of the state’s most sought-after jobs as the Metropolitan Fire Service launch its latest recruitment campaign.

The recruitment campaign, tagged Challenge Your Potential, will have a strong focus on hiring more women and people from culturally diverse backgrounds.

The MFS is urging community-minded, fit people who may never have considered firefighting before, to challenge their potential – and apply.

In recent years, the MFS has attracted applications from around 2,200 aspiring firefighters, making it arguably one of the most sought-after roles in the state.

Applications to become a full-time MFS firefighter will open today and close on Friday, 20 May at 5.00pm.

Minister for Police, Emergency Services & Correctional Services Joe Szakacs said “Today the MFS are putting out the call for new recruits, with a particular focus on women and people from culturally diverse backgrounds.

“I know many migrants, including my own dad, came from parts of the world where they could never trust someone in a uniform – until they came to Australia. Now those same migrants can serve their fellow South Australians with pride and valour, and wear the uniform of one of the most trusted and respected professions.

“A more diverse MFS will be a better MFS and I can’t wait to see the next generation of firefighters who emerge from this recruitment campaign.
