Adelaide-based leading Australian game developer Mighty Kingdom has taken out the top Creative Industries gong at the 2021 SA Premier’s Export Awards.
This is the first time Mighty Kingdom has been awarded the prestigious title, which recognises outstanding international success in a creative industry. This includes music and performing arts, film, television, animation, VFX, radio, and interactive media such as video games.
The company will now progress as a national finalist into the 59th Australian Export Awards program.
The SA Premier’s Export Awards – hosted by the Department of Trade and Investment at the National Wine Centre of Australia in Adelaide on Thursday 16 September – celebrates South Australia’s top exporters.
Mighty Kingdom Founder and Chief Executive Officer Philip Mayes accepted the award from Minister of Innovation and Skills David Pisoni in front of 21 other State-based finalists and nominees.
“We’re thrilled to be named 2021’s winner of the SA Premier’s Export Awards for Creative Industries,” Mr Mayes said. “To be up against so many other incredible businesses and take out the category is an outstanding result, and something of which we are very proud.
“Mighty Kingdom has been an export-focused business since our inception 10 years ago. We’re a digital product, which means we are a weightless export. Our players are based all around the world, from the US and Canada, to Norway and the UK.
“In the past decade, Mighty Kingdom has released more than 50 games that have been played by more than 50 million players worldwide across multiple platforms. It’s an incredible achievement.
“The global games industry continues to grow, and Australian game developers such as Mighty Kingdom are poised to capitalise on this growth – delivering our world-class games direct from our Adelaide HQ.”
The Australian Export Awards will be held on Thursday 25 November 2021.
