It’s a double dose of what makes a dance festival special: a setting that’s completely different, and a lineup that’ll bring back waves of your favourite memories from nineties and noughties nights out. This December, iconic British club turned global entertainment label, Ministry of Sound is finally bringing its Testament series to Adelaide. This epic night will take place in the open air of Adelaide Gaol.
Locked in for Friday night, 5 December, this outdoor event is keeping a golden era of dance music alive, with all the hits, atmosphere, and euphoria organisers describe as spanning the “acid house revolution to the superclub explosion.”
Leading the lineup are icons from the United Kingdom, Judge Jules and Tall Paul, alongside Aussies John Course, Mark Dynamix, and Minx. They’ll be joined by a stacked roster of local talent including Bollocks, Dancespace, Brendon, Loot & Plunder, Paul Marshman, Sarez, Seek N Destroy, and Souli.
Expect laser lights, banners, anthems and outfits straight from the recession-dance era of clubbing. We expect there will be a sea of neon, glitter, and slogans scrawled across t-shirts.
At the time of writing, Testament’s extra-early presale is already sold out, with just two more releases left. Yes, the event’s in December, but there’s a strong chance it’ll sell out months in advance. First release tickets, on sale now, are $109.95, and the event is 18+.
It’s a tribute to the community and creativity that defined clubbing in its prime. The Ministry of Sound legacy runs deep, and this Adelaide event will capture that spirit in one pulsating, open-air celebration within the Gaol walls.
No, it’s not in October, but there’s no mistaking the spooky element the old red bricks and high stone archways will bring to this event.
