A Magill resident is celebrating a windfall after clinching a $2.85 million prize in Saturday X Lotto draw 4451, leaving him with plans to indulge his children’s long-held wish for a backyard pool.

The delighted Adelaide local, who opted to remain anonymous, secured one of the seven division one winning entries nationwide in the draw held on Saturday, March 16, reaping a total prize of $2,857,159.66.

The winning ticket, purchased at Star Discount Chemist Magill located at Shops 5 & 6, Magill Shopping Centre, 587 – 591 Magill Road, was unregistered, necessitating the ticketholder to come forward to claim their prize.

Reflecting on his unexpected windfall, the fortunate winner expressed his initial disbelief, stating, “I certainly wasn’t expecting to win $2.8 million!”

Recounting the moment he confirmed his win, he shared, “I checked the ticket on Sunday, and oh boy, I had no sleep! The thought that it might not be true kept replaying in my head, and I just couldn’t sleep.”

“I’ve got children and they’ve wanted a pool for such a long time. It’s nearly winter but at least they’ll have something to look forward to for next year,” he said.

The team at Star Discount Chemist Magill, where the winning ticket was purchased, expressed their joy at being part of a life-changing moment for a local family and extended their congratulations.

The winning numbers for the draw were 3, 17, 28, 35, 40, and 44, with supplementary numbers 26 and 33. The division one win adds to the growing tally of Saturday X Lotto successes, with 310 division one wins recorded so far in FY24, including 24 from SA Lotteries customers.

Saturday X Lotto has a history of creating millionaires across Australia, with 176 millionaires minted in 2023 alone. Last year saw a total of 303 division one winning entries across the nation, collectively scooping more than $436 million in prizes.
