Mix 102.3 and Toymate join forces for this year’s Christmas toy drive

Mix 102.3 has teamed up with Toymate for a heartwarming Christmas toy drive aimed at brightening the lives of children in need across South Australia.

In the spirit of giving this festive season, Mix 102.3 is stepping up to make a difference with their heartwarming toy drive, aimed at brightening the lives of children in need across South Australia.

The radio station has teamed up with local charity Backpacks 4 SA Kids, a dedicated organisation that provides essential resources to support children and young people during challenging times when they are away from their homes and regular care.

To kickstart this heartfelt initiative, Mix 102.3 has forged a partnership with Toymate, who generously donated an impressive $5,000 worth of toys to set the wheels of the toy drive in motion.

Stephen, the Content Director at Mix 102.3, encouraged the community to participate in the toy drive, saying, “You can head to your local Toymate store at Colonnades or Marion and donate a brand-new unwrapped toy, or a Toymate gift card. Gift cards are preferable so that Backpacks 4 SA Kids can purchase toys for the specific kids in need.”

“If you have your heart set on providing a present, the real areas of need for Backpacks 4 SA Kids include teenagers and newborn babies,” he added.

Rachael Zaltron, representing Backpacks 4 SA Kids, expressed gratitude for the incredible support received from both the general public and the noteworthy $5,000 donation facilitated by ToyMate and Mix 102.3.

Zaltron emphasised that these donations would make a significant impact on ensuring that no child is left without a gift to unwrap this Christmas.

The Toy Drive organizers are encouraging contributions of various items, including board games, Rubik’s cubes, puzzles, and sporting equipment, which are ideal for teenagers. For newborns up to 18 months, any baby-related items will be greatly appreciated.

Backpacks 4 SA Kids has requested that all gifts remain under $30, and they kindly ask donors to avoid items such as books, DVDs, and anything related to food or weapons, such as Nerf guns.

The Toy Drive is scheduled to conclude on Wednesday, December 20th. You can visit Backpacks 4 SA Kids here to find out more about the Christmas program and how you can get involved, or Toymate here.
