With plenty of talk about cost of living, and rising expenses, the chance to win a staggering one million dollars in cash seems like a dream come true. Normally for your chance to win life-changing money like that, you’re entering lotteries against a staggering number of other entries, with a ridiculously low chance of winning. Now your luck has turned. “Mix 102.3’s Million Dollar Key,” is a new competition that the local radio station launched on July 8th, and it involves participants hunting for 1,023 keys hidden at various iconic locations around the city.
Details of one secret location are revealed every hour, providing listeners with continuous opportunities to join the quest. Those fortunate enough to find a key are required to call into the station. Doing so secures them a spot as a finalist at the climactic Key Party event at Munno Para Shopping, owned by the Chapley Group. Here, finalists will have the opportunity to try their luck at unlocking the prize.
The public has thrown their support for the competition, with plenty of listeners joining the quest to find the keys! Jacinta, one of the hopefuls, shared, “Oh my God, it would change our lives. We could buy a family house… we could pay for our wedding, we could pay off our HECS debts, help our family… it would literally change our lives.”
Renae, another participant, recounted a touching moment of generosity, “We actually found two keys, so we gave a key to a lady with a baby. She cried and hugged my daughter because she was so grateful.”
Even the younger demographic voiced their dreams, like 6-year-old Lucy who plans to make charitable use of the prize, “I would buy a club house for me and my sister. I would get mummy a little spa house. And Dad would get a big hug!”
Ali Clarke, Mix 102.3’s breakfast host, spoke about the universal allure of the competition, saying, “Everybody lies in bed at night and imagines what they would do if they had a million dollars… well now someone in Adelaide will get that chance to live out that dream.”
Ali’s co-host Max Burford, shared “This really feels like the pinnacle of prizes, doesn’t it? A one-million-dollar prize has always felt like the holy grail of giveaways.”

In addition to the Million Dollar Key challenge, Mix 102.3 plans to hold four Street Team activations. These events are scheduled at Saints Shopping, Norwood Place, Pasadena Shopping and Munno Para Shopping. Attendees can join the Millionaire Club and participate in the drawing to win an additional $5,000.
