Say hello to Firle’s cutest brunch location, Gico Eatery. This eatery in Adelaide’s East is serving up lots to feast your eyes on!

Just a stone-throw away from Firle Shopping Centre and an easy 5-minute drive from the UniSA Magill Campus, this café opened its doors on Tuesday 22 February, 2022.

As you walk in, the first thing you notice is the high, white ceiling crossed with long beams and dotted with lights. As your eyes lower, you’ll see the rounded bar area, with light pink counters, framed with flowers and bottles waiting to be drunk.

Flashes of pink and splashes of green appear in the new eatery, but the interior is predominantly white and concrete grey. It reminds us of the inside of Kim Kardashian’s Calabasas home – rounded, ultra-modern, and boundary-defying.

The rendered grey walls and underlighting provides the ultimate level of elegance.

One thing that is not absent of colour is the food. Contrasting with the concrete tables, the bold-coloured dishes pop off the tables, greeting your eyes and tastebuds with a colourful, culinary experience.

Gico Eatery is self-described as “Australian modern food, with an Asian twist”.

Owner and Head Chef, Lawrence Guo has been serving up quality dishes across a variety of Adelaide restaurants and cafes for 20 years, and now he’s looking forward to plating up tasty food experiences for his new place, Gico Eatery.

“It’s been a very busy first week,” said Lawrence. “The customers have been coming back and sharing us on Instagram, which is a good sign.”

Lawrence described the new spot as a “very modern and relaxing” location, serving up some of your favourites like Gico’s Smashed Avocado. Dig into the colourful combination of homemade beetroot hummus, smashed pumpkin, feta, cherry tomatoes, and roasted pinenuts served on pumpkin bread.

For the “Asian twist”, many menu dishes incorporate different styles and flavours from Asian cooking, including favourites like Katsu chicken and teriyaki sauce options.
