Moonlight Cinema invites you to choose the films this summer for its 30th Anniversary Season

The People’s Program invites movie lovers across the country to vote for the films they want to see under the stars from January to March 2026.

Moonlight Cinema, Australia’s iconic outdoor movie experience, is turning 30, and this summer, it’s putting the power in the audience’s hands.

To mark the milestone, the beloved open-air cinema is launching The People’s Program, inviting movie lovers across the country to vote for the films they want to see under the stars from January to March 2026. By voting, they influence the lineup for the upcoming months, shaping a nostalgic journey through cinema that has touched many lives. The films up for voting include classics such as ‘Dirty Dancing,’ cult favourites like ‘Jurassic Park,’ and family delights such as ‘Shrek.’

Since its debut in 1995 with Pulp Fiction, Moonlight Cinema has welcomed more than five million guests – from first dates to proposals – and even a few celebrity sightings including Margot Robbie and Chris Hemsworth. With dog-friendly screenings, sunset picnics, and balmy summer nights, it’s long been part of Australia’s seasonal traditions.

“For three decades, Moonlight Cinema has been a quintessential summer ritual for millions of Australians,” said John Boero, General Manager of Entertainment Operations at EVT.

“To mark this milestone, we wanted to do something special for the audiences who’ve made us part of their summer traditions.”

The celebration kicks off with two weeks of Christmas Favourites from 9–23 December, featuring Love Actually, Elf, Home Alone and The Holiday. The summer season continues with major blockbusters, exclusive previews, and sequels including Wicked: For Good, Zootopia 2, Moana 2 and How to Train Your Dragon.

Voters in The People’s Program will also enjoy 30% off General Admission tickets for the chosen films and go in the running to win a Double Season Pass.

Running from 21 November 2025 to 5 April 2026, Moonlight Cinema will return to its iconic locations across Adelaide, Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Perth.

Tickets for November and December sessions are on sale now, so grab your picnic rug, pack your snacks, and get ready to celebrate 30 years of movie magic under the stars.

Voting is live at moonlight.com.au
