Anyone over the age of 30 is now eligible to receive a fourth does of the COVID-19 vaccine as advised by the nation’s expert vaccine advisory body.
From Monday July 11, those ages 30-49 may choose to have a fourth dose while those over 50 are specifically recommended to be boosted.
A new wave of COVID-19 has been spreading across the country with the Omicron subvariant expected to worsen symptoms in the coming months.
A fourth shot is currently restricted to people aged 65 and over or those who are immuno-comprised with the Australian Technical Advisory Group on Immunisation (ATAGI) now lowering the age and criteria.
More than 40% of Australians over 65 are yet to receive their fourth shot and 30% of eligible adults are yet to receive their third dose.
