More Fun than Run, as up to 2,000 Crazy Santas Come Together to Party

The most Santas ever to cross the Adelaide Torrens Riverbank Footbridge will hop, skip, jump or stroll their way across for the very first Y-Variety Santa Fun Run Party on 28 November.

SantaFunRun_2011_2The most Santas ever to cross the Adelaide Torrens Riverbank Footbridge will hop, skip, jump or stroll their way across for the very first Y-Variety Santa Fun Run Party on 28 November.

The sea of red and white will stop for a photo, then make their way to the Royal Raj Racquet Club for a special, pre-opening preview night, where they will sway and wiggle the night away in aid of South Australian children in need.

With a total distance of just over 250m, this party is definitely way more FUN than run, and hopes to raise $25,000 for sick, disadvantaged and special needs children in the state.

This year sees the event changed from the traditional fun run model rolled out in previous years, with the addition of the Young Variety team working in conjunction with the very talented Royal Raj Racquet Club creators, Stuart Duckworth and Tom Skipper.

The Y-Variety Santa Fun Run Party is an exclusive opportunity to preview the British India themed club, based on the River Torrens, which will not officially open to the public until the following week.

Featuring entertainment including Bollywood dancers, fire dancers, sword swallowers and snake charmers the venue will recreate the atmosphere of the British Raj.

Up to 2,000 people are expected to register for the event, a long-time favourite for Variety supporters in the lead up to the Christmas period.

“We are excited to take this event to a new stage,” says newly appointed Y Variety Chair, Josh Pugh.

“We want to put the fun in fun-draising and bring new life to the event, whist targeting a new generation of Variety supporters,” he said.

“This is the reason for the change, and why we are running the event in conjunction with the Royal Raj Racquet Club, and are thrilled to have them supporting this event,” said Josh.

Young Variety is a group of young professionals who run regular networking and fundraising events to support children who are sick, disadvantaged or have special needs.
