The Adelaide foodie scene is set to undergo a nugget-shaped shake up with nugget magicians Motherlode opening their first flagship store, Motherlode 142, on Hindley Street on October 9.
Taking up shop below the iconic Rocket Rooftop and finding a home in the bones of the old Mr Kims venue, Motherlode 142 has totally transformed the faded VHS storefront into a vibrant green nugget safe-haven, lined with San Pellegrino bottles, beer cans and hot sauce.
The Adelaide-central location means Motherlode 142 will be city dwellers latest grab-and-go lunch spot or the perfect place to have an early knock on a Friday afternoon.
Promising an illustrious combination of ‘fried chicken, sandwiches and booze’, the nugget masters will open in the coming weeks, banishing any remaining winter-weather blues with a menu stacked with deep-fried nuggety deliciousness.
Having garnered a popular reputation through pop-up stores at locations such as RCC, Spin Off Festival, Gilles at the Grounds and Fringe, Motherlode will be preparing for a busy opening run, thanks to their legion of loyal fans eager to get their hands on their next nugget fix.
Making a triumphant comeback in the flagship store will be one of Motherlode’s most popular gastronomical wonders, the Chicken Laksa nuggets – a coconut panko crumb-coated chicken breast, marinated in coconut cream and laksa.
Guaranteed to cater to a range of nugget needs, Motherlode also offers a number of variations on the veggie-friendly crispy Cauliflower nugget.
As devouring nuggets makes particularly thirsty work, a selection of signature cocktails will also be on offer, along with beer, wine and bubbles.
Motherlode’s innovative offerings breathe new life into the humble nugget with previous pop-up dishes including Mi Goreng nuggets, pretzel crusted mini nugget bagels and the foodie mash-up we never knew we needed: an epic Chicken Nugget Calzone in collaboration with Pizzateca.
Motherlode 142 will open its doors on October 9 at 142 Hindley Street. The flagship store will be open Wednesday to Friday from lunch to late, and from 5 pm on Saturday.
