Mother’s Day Market Mecca: Bowerbird Bazaar

The bi-annual Bowerbird Design Markets are a nod to Adelaide’s ever-faithful appreciation of the evolving innovation of our local creative community.

The bi-annual Bowerbird Design Markets returned this weekend past to the Royal Adelaide Showgrounds, with a nod to Adelaide’s ever-faithful appreciation of hand-crafted-everything, soy candles, food and wine tastings, and the evolving innovations of our local creative community.

The Mothers Day weekend warranted a 3 day extravaganza, because the best way to show your Mum some love is to shop for her, or even better, with her. The catch-line for the markets of “Seek, Explore, Find, Collect” felt wholly appropriate with over 150 stalls to browse.

The Hither & Yon crew had their full range on show.

Some local favourites included the fabulous Emma Kate Co, leather bags by The Butcher Byrd, wine by Hither & Yon, and in the ‘Creative Space’ bazaar-goers were able to make their own flower crowns. We had to exercise a little personal restraint, or we’d have had some serious credit card debt on our hands.

The Wayville Pavillion was decked out with all the hallmarks you’d come to expect from a premier market experience – modern colours, splashes of greenery, flowers and fairy lights complimented the homely community atmosphere. With so many South Australian makers, as well as a selection of interstate stalls for company, these designers are seasoned professionals at conveying a more personal angle for what they’ve created.

We wanted everything on this table...

We wanted everything in this picture. Even the unfinished works.

We’d say the many thousands who came through the doors left more than satisfied and will eagerly anticipate the return of the markets in their new home towards the Christmas season.

Keep an eye out for upcoming dates on the Bowerbird website.
