Kangkong wallThe wait is soon to be over! The doors for the incredible new Adelaide restaurant Kangkong are soon to be opened, starting with their invitation only VIP launch on Tuesday 28th of April.

Kangkong will focus on fun shared food in an exciting fast paced environment and Gypsy Dragon, sitting right beside it at 44 Waymouth Street, will be a funky outdoor area offering exciting cocktails, beers and ciders.

The food at Kangkong will be South East Asian encompassing Malay, Thai and Vietnamese and is set to be incredible. We at Glam were lucky enough to taste their new menu recently and let us tell you, every single thing was vibrant and delicious.

The duo behind the restaurant and bar are Robert Parsons and Ron Kohli. They are bringing Adelaide the style of a restaurant that flows perfectly into post dinner drinks, or vice versa.

“We’ve seen a number of pop up bars in Adelaide lately, some joined to restaurants and others not, but Kangkong and Gypsy Dragon is a bar and restaurant combination that is here to stay” Robert Parsons said.

“Our Chef is Matthew Miles, who for the past two years has been working at one of Adelaide’s true institutions, Gaucho’s.

“Prior to this he spent eight years travelling Australia, Asia and the Middle East. He is really passionate about combining all this knowledge with amazing South Australia produce – from what we’ve seen, he will deliver some very special and unique dishes!” said Kohli.

The venues will open Monday to Friday for lunch and drinks, and Monday to Saturday for dinner and drinks. Both venues are closed on Sundays.
