Mushroom Month Is Back At The Highway This July

The Highway Hotel’s Mushroom Month, now in its fifth year, is ready to launch on July 1 and with a menu that is sure to impress South Australian foodies, this is one menu you will want to try!

The beautiful mushrooms showcased in this menu are all locally sourced from South Australian mushroom growers and will feature in all three courses: entrée, main and dessert!

Everyone seems to focus on health and fitness these day, but with this menu there is no need to stress so much about the calories. Mushrooms are known for their nutritional benefits, containing more protein than most vegetable and are also low in calories! That sounds like a win to us!

This annual event has gathered a following, with the Highway’s Head Chef, Elliot Hampton behind the menu creations!

The menu this year will see a tasty Portobello Burger on a brioche bun with onion rings, cheddar, truffle aioli, mustard and chips and a even Button Mushroom and Chocolate espresso cake with meringue and truffle ice cream.

With the truffle which is known as the ‘diamond of the kitchen’ available to taste, this is an opportunity for all the mushroom lovers out there to get their fix!

Mushroom Month will be held from July 1-31 in The Highway’s bistro and lounge bar.
